Whats in a name?  We live in a society where we take our names very seriously, simply look at your friends signatures to see how important we consider our hailing status.

As for me… well call me anything, just call me.  My father has never once in 44 years called me by my birth name.  I was born to a fanatically religious hippy family on my kitchen table.  They thought I was going to be a girl and named me Ali and that is the name I have always gone by as far as my father is concerned.  The great Muhammed Ali dubbed me Ali when he stated ” that boy has a little bit of Ali in him” My mom calls me Alan, my brother Al, and my sister calls me brother, my gypsy friends call me Stormy.

Rivers, ponds, lakes and streams – they all have different names, but they all contain water. Just as religions do – they all contain truths.

When it comes to naming or renaming a boat its a much more serious endeavor   I spent last night walking around the marina with a glass in hand laughing at all the silly names on boats wondering what the hell some people were thinking.  There is simply no boat beautiful enough to pull off Panacea  or Obsession When I purchases a small tattered un-named cutter I had planned on carrying the name Roo with her, like the boat the name was more about the journey.  When people started referring to her as Roo ll it bothered me so I started considering a new name.

Our creator is the same and never changes despite the names given Him by people here and in all parts of the world. Even if we gave Him no name at all, He would still be there, within us, waiting to give us good on this earth.

I don’t know where it came from but she started to feel like Hookie, hence the name and the spelling of this website.  Eventually I settled on The`Tching  and eventually shortened it to The` pronounced Tay-Ahh, there are a dozen ways I could have spelled it but I named her after my much loved and admired mother in-law  one of the most amazing women I have ever known.  There are still times when I refer to her as Hookie but its not the name that is important, its the journey.

Though we may know Him by a thousand names, He is one and the same to us all.
