“The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.
I read this post on extreme minimalism years ago and thought it was worth sharing. Having each and every day to live as I choose has presented me with more options than I know what to do with. While I explore digital photography and video the more I learn the more I realize the the options are limitless. The other night I spent an evening watching slideshows from Adam Nash’s personal travel photographs from all over the world. I have never seem such beautiful images and while I don’t understand why he refuses to share them with the world I felt fortunate to get a brief glimpse from his expeditions of the planet. While he spent years guiding all over the world he is the first to admit that you cant buy perfection, it has to be earned and while his paying clients got a glimpse of these wonders of the world it was his lifelong commitment to exploration and travel that put him in the perfect place at the perfect time.
How insane is it that so many of us spend 51 weeks a year ignoring our family’s and friends spending the majority of our waking hours working for someone else so that for one week of the year we can sneak out of the office and have a 7 day peek at what its truly like to live. Its like people who purchase a sailboat that is so far out of his financial range that they cant afford the time to actually sail them, you have seen these guys motoring their sailboats all over the place trying to squeeze a week out out a weekend and be back Monday morning to pay for the boat they don’t have time to sail.
Thinking you can work your way out of work is the true definition of insanity.
