I saw her tired old bones sitting in the boat yard and  it was love at first sight. I knew she would be a huge undertaking but well worth it, when it comes to restoring classic boats you will never be finished. Clean sheets go along way both on a boat and inside of one. That extra care we put in  always shows.

Is it already March?  The boat is loaded and I have paint for her bottom but launch time isn’t going to happen this week or the next.  I’m running away from home to stay on a Baba 30 to coax the beauty out of her.  With a little bit of luck and a whole lot of elbow grease she will be the finest boat in the harbor in no time.

Its easy to get behind in boat work but also easy to catch up.  If I looked at any project as a whole I think I would just give up and walk away.  I take major projects one foot at a time, boats are very simple creatures, fiberglass, wood and steal.  Its hard work bringing them back to their truest form but these old girls are worth it.

I’ve been called nuts on more than one occasion when it comes to the maintenance I do on my boat but for me it’s therapy.  Every-time I row away from Sookie I stop and admire her beautiful lines.  She fits perfectly into any back drop this world has to offer.  Perhaps this site should have been named Art Of Sookie.
